Central Coast Mariners import Patrick Zwaanswijk admits he is enjoying his defensive pairing with club captain Alex Wilkinson.

The Dutch centre-half has been impressive since joining the club this season but says a lot of it has to do with the fact that he and Wilkinson have forged a strong relationship on the pitch.

“It’s a good combination. We both do talking on the field and help each other out. Alex is a good captain and his form is always consistent,” Zwaanswijk said.

He added that he was very happy with how things were going in Gosford after crossing to the Mariners from Eredivisie club NAC Breda.

“I’ve enjoyed it very much so far,” he added.

“I feel I’ve adjusted well to the club and the level of the A-League.

“I had more than two months off before coming over but I’m happy with my form. I expected to struggle a bit but my form is at a pretty good level.”
