Celtic's McDonald believes Old Firm issues will continue to be aired

Scott McDonald feels talk of the Old Firm quitting Scottish football will keep coming back until they actually do leave.

Celtic striker McDonald believes the Old Firm are right to look at any move that could improve their lot and although he sees nothing happening for at least five years, he knows the subject will continue to be raised.

"At the top end of football clubs, where they deal with all that, it's an ongoing saga that comes and goes like a yo-yo," he said, insisting it is not a subject of conversation in the Parkhead dressing room.

"We've not really chatted about it; we just get on with the job. We want to win this title, never mind what is going to happen in five to 10 years' time."

Yet, McDonald would relish testing himself on a bigger stage.

"Who wouldn't?" he said.

"I think if you were to ask any player if they had the opportunity to play against that calibre of player, they would say yes. But that's without going into all the politics and everything else that goes with it."
