Celtic’s McGeady bound for Moscow
Celtic winger Aiden McGeady will sign for Spartak Moscow in the next 48 hours, reports the Scottish Sun.
Hoops boss Neil Lennon will get all the £9.5m windfall to pursue three new signings for the SPL title bid.
Lennon said: "Aiden was in on Saturday and more or less said his goodbyes, so we'll see how that develops over the next couple of days.
"He is going to Moscow to get the deal finalised. In that respect, the sooner it is done the better. I won't be relieved when it's done as I'll be losing my best player. But we feel it's good money for a top player.
"I know he was initially apprehensive about going, but having spoken to him on Saturday he seems a lot more settled about the idea of going there.
"You never know what might happen at the last minute, but from what I gather it should get done over the next few days.
"Aiden is going to a big club in a big city.
"This is what he wanted to do, so all we can do now is wish him the best.
"There is no doubting Aiden's natural talent. What he did under Gordon Strachan was improve physically. He's a fantastic athlete, allied to his natural talent."
McGeady has been given permission to miss the Republic of Ireland's friendly against Argentina on Wednesday to finalise the move.
Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni said: "We let him go to do what he must do. Maybe he'll go to Russia but at the moment he's not with us."
