Carrick can see Man Utd keeper Van der Sar playing on

Michael Carrick has dismissed talk of retirement for Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

Van der Sar, who turned 40 this week, recently spoke of his determination to win further Premier League and Champions League titles with United.

Some have assumed the former Holland international has spoken of that double target as a glorious career swansong for next May but Carrick can see him playing on.

"It's a great achievement," said Carrick, when asked about the Dutchman's longevity by the club's website,

"There are goalkeepers down the years who have played a lot later into their careers than outfield players, but to do it at this level and at this club is some going. And it doesn't seem like he's letting up any time soon."
