Carla Bruni wanted Barcelona's Henry at Madrid reception

Barcelona striker Thierry Henry was set to gatecrash an official Madrid reception for French president Nicolas Sarkozy.

Sarkozy and Carla Bruni will attend an official reception in Madrid next week hosted by the King of Spain. Among those invited include Real Madrid icons Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane.

However, Barca were also to have a presence, courtesy of Carla Bruni, who insisted on Henry being invited to the function. The Barca striker is Bruni's favourite player.

Unfortunately, Henry was forced to decline the invitation due to Barca's Champions League semifinal against Chelsea.
