Current Toronto FC caretaker coach Nick Dasovic admits he would love to get the role permanently.

The 41-year old former Canada U23 coach took over from Preki in mid-September and although he failed to guide the club into the play-offs, is eager to take the full-time gig if it was offered to him.

“Absolutely, I’d take it in a second,” he said. “In saying that, if they (the club) feel it’s not the right time, I would respect that decision as well.”

But even if he doesn’t get the job, Dasovic feels it is important that he remains with the club in some capacity.

“I get a phone call that says ‘You’re going to do this and this,’ then I’ll just re-evaluate and then start that job differently,” Dasovic added. “I don’t plan on leaving the club. I’ve grown to love this club. I’ve been here for three years now and we’ll go from there, but I’ve enjoyed my time here and will continue to be here.”
