Capello rates West Brom keeper Carson ahead of Man Utd's Foster

England boss Fabio Capello rates West Brom goalkeeper Scott Carson ahead of Manchester United's Ben Foster, it has been revealed.

The Mirror says Capello wanted Carson to become David James' stand-in for England's final qualifier against Belarus at Wembley tomorrow, but the 24-year-old is unavailable due to a lingering ankle injury.

The news will come as a further blow for Foster who stands to lose his place as Sir Alex Ferguson's No 1 choice stopper as veteran Edwin van der Sar looks set to make his first Premier League appearance of the season this weekend when United host Bolton.
