Capello to place player on standby for Barry
Submitted by Andrew Slevison on Thu, 05/27/2010 - 00:55
England boss Fabio Capello will place a player on standby in case Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry doesn’t recover from his ankle injury.
Barry will undergo a fitness test on Tuesday when Capello will name his final 23-man squad and it is expected he will prove his fitness to make the final cut.
Capello is prepared to take a risk by naming Barry but will put one of his preliminary squad players who does not make the cut on standby so if the player in question happens to break down prior to the June 11 deadline, there will be cover in midfield.
