Capello couldn’t believe Chelsea’s Terry refused to resign England captaincy
England boss Fabio Capello couldn't believe Chelsea skipper John Terry refused to resign as Three Lions captain when they met on Friday, it has been revealed.
The Sunday Mirror says Terry’s increasing series of off-field indiscretions were not the main factor behind coach Fabio Capello’s decision to strip the Chelsea defender of the Three Lions captaincy on Friday.
The tough Italian was furious because Terry refused to voluntarily stand down, despite being advised it was the best course of action open to him. Terry had been informed by sources close to Capello as early as last Monday that he should issue a brief statement tendering his resignation.
It was a calculated move by Capello designed to take the heat out of the situation and protect Terry from further humiliating headlines. But Terry refused to resign and even when he was informed that his position had become untenable, he still believed that he could talk Capello round when they met face-to-face on Friday.
That was to prove a major own goal by the Chelsea star, who would have been given an opportunity by Capello in the future to re-stake his captaincy claim.

Yeah! I can sense Chelseaphobia everywhere but don't know why. May be they are jealous of Chelsea's success.Whatever, nothing can stop Chelsea from winning treble this season. Blues till death.
Agreed! England without Chelsea can not be imagined really. Chelsea have some promising english youngsters besides the present stars. Mancienne, Cork, Sturridge have great future with England and Chelsea.
England shame unto u. JT has only done wrong bc he cheated on the wife otherwise sleeping with bridge ex girlfriend means nothing after-all he (Jt) wasn't the only person dat slept with her. Upon all he is still strong inside the pitch, indeed u are a great character and born leader. don't mind them, only mind hw to console ur wife to forgive u simple.
