Capello admits it will be tough telling England’s unlucky seven
England boss Fabio Capello admits it will be tough telling the seven unlucky players who are cut from his final squad.
The Italian tactician has confirmed he will make his final decision on June 1 and that he will personally call each of the players who misses out to tell them the news, which he knows will be very hard to do.
“I will have to decide the final 23 and that will be difficult,” he said.
“Not the making of the decision but telling the six or seven players who will be going home and not coming with us to South Africa. This is the hardest decision."
Capello added: "I will speak with the players. I spoke with them when we went on to the training pitch in Austria for the first time and I will speak to them when I decide.
"I have to choose. They have to understand that I have to choose.
"These 30 players are all part of the national team. It is really important for them to know that.
"But I have to decide and will do on June 1. It means I will have to ring them, yes, when we are back in England because we have to wait until after the last game against Japan and see what happens in that match. I will telephone the seven."
