Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro has backed teammate Amauri for an Italy call.

Brazilian Amauri could be in the squad after he gains citizenship in March.

Cannavaro said: “Amauri is the player who has impressed me the most with his character and work ethic. If he is on form, he can change the face of a team.

“Amauri made his choice, he wants Italy. Our squad know him and what his qualities can achieve."
