Campbell in talks with Man City
The People says Campbell's agents were talking with Manchester City the day before Mark Hughes' sacking.
The centre-back, 35, is seeking £70,000-a-week wages and an 18-month contract - demands which put off Wigan, Hull, Newcastle and West Brom.
But with Joleon Lescott and Wayne Bridge injured, City are desperate to bolster their defensive options - and could agree a deal with Campbell. It is believed that Campbell's representatives met City chiefs on Friday December 18.
