Bolton Wanderers striker Johan Elmander wants to prove to Swedish fans that he is a capable replacement for Barcelona ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

With Ibrahimovic considering turning his back on Sweden to concentrate on life in Spain’s La Liga with Barcelona, Elmander is determined to seize his chance to shine.

“I know I have a great chance now,” he said. “I do not know how long Zlatan will be gone and not if he comes back or not.

“Now it’s my chance to play and then I will show that yes, I’ll take it.”
