Blackburn come from behind to defeat Arsenal

Arsenal failed to take advantage of an early lead, losing 2-1 to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

The Gunners aim of finishing third - and therefore avoiding having to qualify for the group stage of next season's Champions League - could go down to the final day.

They had the ideal start when Robin van Persie was presented with a simple close range header after 13 minutes.

But just before the break Rovers levelled as the visitor’s defence failed to deal with a corner and David Dunn tapped home.

Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski looked uneasy with Blackburn’s aerial bombardment and visiting boss Arsene Wenger again looked unimpressed with Rovers physical style of play.

The winner came on 68 minutes as Chris Samba took advantage of hesitancy from Sol Campbell and Fabianski to head home.

Rovers then held out to ensure that they avoided defeat against the Gunners, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool at home this season.
