Blackburn boss Allardyce: Robinson snub massive Capello gaffe

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce says Fabio Capello has made a huge selection gaffe by leaving goalkeeper Paul Robinson out of his England squad.

Allardyce insists Robinson is a far superior option to Manchester City youngster Joe Hart.

Big Sam snapped: "He has made the biggest mistake of his selection process has Fabio. As much as I respect him for what he has done, that is one big, big mistake. I am staggered - totally. It is completely the wrong decision.

"Thirteen clean sheets speak for themselves. There has to be other reasons why he hasn't selected him because there is nobody in better form."

Big Sam went on to put a huge question mark against Capello's decision to go with rookie Hart and injury-prone David James, who turns 40 this summer.

He said: "Perhaps Harty can run him close but he hasn't got 40-odd England caps of experience and hasn't played in any major championships before.

"So it would be much more valuable having Paul Robinson there than Joe Hart.

"Never mind the David James scenario, who is spasmodically in and out because it seems he has a bit of an injury problem. I am really disappointed for him."
