Blackburn admit Al Ahli wanted Allardyce

Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams admits Al Ahli were keen on Sam Allardyce in the summer.

However, Williams rubbished claims Allardyce was ready to resign over a row regarding transfer funds.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Sam certainly did not offer his resignation. As you say a false rumour.

"I believe there was real interest from a club in the Middle East, but nothing materialised I’m pleased to say."
