Birmingham chief Pannu excited by Derbyshire deal: They call him Killer
Birmingham City vice-chairman Peter Pannu is happy with their loan signing of Olympiakos striker Matt Derbyshire.
Pannu is excited about the prospect of 24-year-old Derbyshire, seen right being welcomed to the club by manager Alex McLeish, in a Blues shirt. Blues striker Matt Derbyshire is unveiled by Blues
He told bcfc.com: "I remember watching Matt play for Blackburn on TV in Hong Kong and being impressed by his dynamic style and obvious ability. He is a player who is very exciting to watch.
"So I followed his career when he moved to Olympiakos and watched him continue to score goals and play well. He is a real goal threat and can create them as well as score them.
"He has scored some very important goals in big games, which shows he can handle the pressure of the big occasion and I love the nickname he earned - The English Killer - after scoring the winning goal in an away game at Panathinaikos. It is a compliment when the supporters give you a nickname, so they must have thought the world of him too.
"When Alex (McLeish) told me he was interested in signing Matt he had my support straight away because I knew we had the chance to bring in a player who will enhance the squad.
"I'm looking forward to seeing him pull on a Blues shirt and have every confidence he will replicate the great form I have seen him produce so many times when watching him play on television."
