Birmingham boss McLeish made check on CSKA Moscow star Dzagoev
Alan Dzagoev is attracting serious interest from Birmingham City.
The People says Alex McLeish saw the CSKA Moscow ace score his first international goal against Ireland in Dublin on Friday and is plotting an ambitious swoop.
Attacking midfielder Dzagoev is just 20 and tipped as the next big thing in Russia, with Real Madrid trying to sign him while he was in his teens, and Chelsea his dream destination because he supports them.
However McLeish has been told there is cash for a splash by his club’s owners after he tried and failed to spend big in the last transfer window.
Dzagoev really would be a coup signing if McLeish could pull it off, but the Scot – now tied to a new deal himself – will work on it in the coming months ahead of a potentially sensational swoop next summer.
