Birmingham boss Eck: Rangers deal for Novo among my very best

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish rates his deal at Rangers for Nacho Novo among his very best.

McLeish has spent millions wheeling and dealing with some of the most outstanding players on the planet.

He lured Mikel Arteta and Jean-Alain Boumsong to Gers, he's bought and sold Barry Ferguson more than once.

But Big Eck still rates Novo as among his best ever buys and he still shakes his head in disbelief that he managed to pinch the Spanish sizzler from Dundee for so little.

McLeish told the Scottish Sun: "I'm really proud of the Nacho signing.

"There are always signings who stand out for a manager. I can remember bringing (Kris) Boyd for not very much.

"But Nacho is up there with the best of them and it's absolutely outrageous that we got a player of his quality for just £450,000.

"What he's done for Rangers has helped me in my career and helped himself too.

"If Rangers hold on and win the SPL championship this season, it'll be the third title Nacho has won."

im just glad he didnt mention getting kris boyd for a paltry fee also lol.
in response to the first comment,i think the fact mcleish is getting at is that outwith walter and ally there is not many others at rangers just now who can claim to have been there long enough to win three winners medals :)

A veiled hint that he could be heading to Birmingham? Slightly odd that this comes out with this when BCFC are talking about transfer budgets and McLeish is about to sign a new contract. It sounds like a bit of an outlandish statement though he's hardly 'outstanding' for winning the SPL three times is he?
