Bednar expects to fit for West Brom v Leicester clash
West Brom striker Roman Bednar expects to be available for the clash at Leicester City this Saturday.
The Czech suffered a bizarre injury when the Baggies defeated Reading on October 17, twisting a rib that forced the nerves in his back to seize up but is confident he has overcome that problem.
Bednar stepped out for West Brom’s reserves on Monday night as they swept aside Burton Albion 10-0, getting himself on the scoresheet and although he is fir for Saturday’s match, remembers the pain of his injury all too well.
“It was so painful,” Bednar told the Birmingham Mail.
“My ribs got twisted and when that happened the whole left side of my back just got stuck with cramp so I was in agony and then I couldn’t move.
“I was stuck on a bed for four hours, without being able to move. I needed pills to relax me.
“They took me to hosptial at half-time as they didn’t know what had happened - it was scary, terrifying and very strange.
“I was just paralysed down the left side and terrified. It was something I’ve never had before.
“For one week I couldn’t do anything. I saw the oestheopath and they cracked me a few times. After that it got better and better.
“I played ninety minutes on Monday and I’m fit for Saturday. Whether I can play a full 90 minutes I don’t know but I feel great.”
