Barcelona president Joan Laporta is dead against the scrapping of the 'Beckham tax law'.

Spanish parliament is considering changes to the tax laws which allow foreign footballers earning over €600,000-a-year to pay only 24 per cent in tax.

There is a push for the lower tax rate to be scrapped.

"This decision is being taken without any consultation, which is hitting a league that is the best in the world and already brings a lot to the GDP of the country," said Laporta.

"The results of the clubs and the national team demonstrates that the policy which has been followed so far was right. With this reform, the most talented foreign players will think twice before coming to play in La Liga."
