Barcelona’s Ibrahimovic desperate to prove point to Arsenal
Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is hoping he can prove a point to Arsenal when the clubs clash in the Champions League quarter-finals tonight.
The prolific Swede had a trial spell with the Gunners a decade ago but was never offered a contract and since then has never performed well against English teams wherever he has played.
Now he is keen to seek redemption and put in a huge match at Emirates Stadium in the first leg tonight.
“I don’t think I’ve played well against English teams. When I played for Inter against Manchester United, I was not at my best. Tactically it’s different in Italy. If you ask an Italian team whether it’s more ¬important to score or not concede they will say it’s more ¬important not to concede,” he said.
“But now I’m at a team where they believe it’s more important to score and that will suit my game and my style.
“I had five fantastic years in Italy and have won six league titles in a row so I don’t know what more I have to prove after that. But criticism inspires me.”
