Aston Villa favourites for Barcelona striker Gudjohnsen

Aston Villa are regarded as favourites for Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen.

A raft of Premiership clubs are keen to bring the former Chelsea forward back to England this summer.

But Sport says Villa are showing the strongest interest and believe £3 million will be enough to land the Iceland international.

He's a quality player, I'd love to see him at Villa but he's not the sort of striker we need. I'd prefer sign a player like Scott Macdonald to compete with Gabby and compliment Carew/Heskey.

It will be interesting to see Eidur Gudjohnsen in the Premier League again...the player has quality and will suit Aston Villa well...
