Aston Villa to bid for Rangers striker Boyd

Aston Villa are chasing Rangers striker Kris Boyd.

The Birmingham Mail says according to sources north of the border, Villa are believed to be keeping tabs on the prolific Scottish international who came close to joining rivals Birmingham a year ago.

Boyd is once again the leading marksman in the Scottish Premier League with 19 goals already this season taking his tally for the Ibrox club to 97 goals in just over four years.

And with his contract expiring in the summer the 26-year-old frontman, who is also interesting Newcastle United, could be available for a knockdown price of around £1.5 million this month.
