Barcelona sports chief Andoni Zubizarreta has questioned the motivation behind their 12-month transfer ban.

FIFA stunned Barca with the ruling last week.

Zubi said: "We find it a totally unfair and disproportionate punishment by FIFA, but we have peace of mind that always, all our players have played with federation records in order. Moreover we have done so in the same conditions as all other teams.

"There are many juniors playing in the same conditions.

"We've taken care of all the claims requested by FIFA and it sounds all very strange, for the penalty, because we are the only club to have been sanctioned and it's a penalty imposed on November 28 which became known on April 3."
