Zubar grateful to Wolves fans for support ahead of Man Utd boilover

Wolves defender Ronald Zubar has thanked his supporters after victory over Manchester United.

Zubar appeared on the outer at Wolves after his gaffe against Bolton Wanderers, but manager Mick McCarthy kept faith in him for the United clash.

"It was big day both for myself and the team," Zubar told the club's website. "Before the game everyone helped me a lot by singing my name.

"That gave me the motivation and power to try and play well firstly for the team but also for myself. It was important for me to play my normal game and do the things well that I could.

"The gaffer mentioned to us all before the game that it was the day when we had a chance of getting something against Manchester United and we were all together.

"It was a case of believing in each other and believing we could do it and that's what happened. Having gone behind so early it was all about how we did defensively and keeping our concentration.

"And then we managed to get two goals which is not easy against Manchester United!

"After that we managed to stay solid and compact and it turned out to be a very good performance."

He added: "I was angry with myself and had it on my mind.

"But once I got on the pitch and the fans were shouting 'Zubar' it was like 'Come on, let's go Zubey'.

"We've got unbelievable fans and the support I had was great."
