Zola teetering on brink of losing West Ham job

Gianfranco Zola is on the verge of losing his job at West Ham United.

The club is close to being bought by former Birmingham owners David Gold and David Sullivan and if they complete their £50million takeover soon, Zola will be out of a job.

The duo have earmarked ex-Manchester City boss Mark Hughes as their preferred option to lead the club into a new era but Zola insist he does not fear being ousted from the role he has held since September 2008.

"The new owners may not want to speak to me. I think I can do this job well and that is enough, but I have to prove it to everybody else, every day," he said.

"For me, the pitch speaks. If what I am doing isn't good enough then it is right they change me. The sack is not a fear for me at all."
