Zola sides with Fulham in West Ham selection row

West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola has dismissed his board's complaints over Fulham's selection for their defeat at Hull City.

Hammers chiefs made an official complaint - confirmed yesterday by the Premier League - after Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson fielded a 'weakened' team and lost 2-0 at struggling Hull last Saturday.

But Zola admitted: "I didn't know it was happening. I've no doubts Roy is doing his best for his team.

"He's a person I respect for his loyalty and I have no complaints with that.

"I'm sure he did the right thing for his club."

Zola's comments will not go down well with West Ham's co-owners David Gold and Sullivan, who may view them as disloyal.
