Reading owner Anton Zingarevich insists the club has targeted the Championship title for next season.
The Royals were relegated from the Premier League last season, just a year after tasting success in England's second tier, and Zingarevich is backing them to bounce straight back by taking out another title.
"If we have that mentality, and we're successful, then we'll be back in the Premier League," he told Reading 107FM.
"Of course the ambition and the objective is to win the league. That's the only thing that we, as a football club, want to achieve. We've had board meetings where we've discussed this.
"We all have that message throughout the club that we want to win the league. Everything is there for us to achieve that.
"The message should be clear - we want to try and win every game. If we have that mentality, and we're successful, then we'll be back in the Premier League."
