American attacker Preston Zimmerman says he is looking forward to a new opportunity after signing with German club Mainz.
The 21-year old has joined Mainz's reserves for the rest of the season after a stint with Hamburg and a nightmare spell with Austrian outfit Kapfenberg and is excited about the fresh challenge put in front of him.
"I don't think words can explain how excited I am about it beause it's taken a really long time," Zimmerman told Soccer365. "I'm so happy that I can finally put everything behind me and move forward, and with a club that I really, really like.
"It's a good club here in Germany and I just feel really, really good about the opportunity. I'm happy that it's all worked out now."
Zimmerman was treated poorly whilst at Kapfenberg with the club taking him to court twice but he won both cases and said he is keen to put that behind him and move on.
"They tried every dirty trick in the book," he said. "Although I didn't do anything wrong and both times they protested I won everything, they still made it such an issue. I'm just glad that's over.
"I think, the whole time I was in Austria, I was never in the kind of place where I could really succeed. Now, it's a lot different situation. These are good people that are proper and correct with the way they work.
"They're excited to give me this opportunity," stated Zimmerman. "It's 2010. It's a new year and I'm starting over. I'm really happy about it because it's a great place to start over."
