Zieler explains quitting Leicester for VfB Stuttgart

Ron-Robert Zieler as explained quitting Leicester City for VfB Stuttgart.

The Germany goalkeeper joined Bundesliga side Stuttgart this week in a £3.5million deal, just a year after coming to Leicester from Hannover.

"I had to be very persistent," Zieler told Kicker. "Before the holiday I wanted to change and hoped we could do it quickly. At the start of the training session on July 3, I made my wish clear again.

"(The decision to leave City) did not happen overnight, but developed. I wanted to play more. I could not wait for Kasper Schmeichel , I had to take my future into my own hands.

"It was certainly not all bad, I've been able to learn, have played in the Premier League and Champions League and have developed my strength of character.

"I have never had any problems with my colleagues, even with Kasper, I had a very considerate relationship in Leicester, and there will be no problems."
