Zidane 'pleased' as Real Madrid draw at Man City

Real Madrid couldn't find a way past Joe Hart as they had to settle for a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at Manchester City.

Manuel Pellegrini's men came under heavy pressure in the second half at the Etihad Stadium as a previously subdued Real finally found their teeth.

City goalkeeper Hart again proved their saviour, producing fine reflex stops from Casemiro and Pepe, while Jese also hit the bar as the visitors upped the tempo in the latter stages. Real coach Zinedine Zidane remarked: “I'm pleased with the game because it wasn't easy. We defended very well and in the second half we had more of the ball and chances to score. I'm a bit disappointed because we deserved more, but we were very good defensively. It was a hard-fought game.

“We could have scored, but getting a goal doesn't guarantee a place in the final. We're halfway through the tie. We've got the next game at home and we know what we're capable of doing at the Bernabéu. We'll have to work like we did today."
