Real Madrid Castilla coach Zinedine Zidane is set to make Eero Markkanen his first signing.
Markkanen is tied to Sweden's AIK and the subject of intense talks with Real about a move to Spain.
AIK sports director Bjorn Wesström told Sportbladet: "Nothing is clear. That he is not in the match squad does not mean anything."
AIK are midway through their Swedish season and Markkanen has scored six goals in 14 games.
Despite Wesstrom's reluctance, it's understood Markkanen already has one foot inside Zidane's squad with a deal close.
