Zenit St Petersburg are planning a new bid for Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel. The Mirror says the Russian club have set aside around £16million to land a new central defender in the New Year - and old boy Skrtel is one of the names on their list.
The 28-year-old joined Liverpool from Zenit in 2008 and became a mainstay in the Anfield giants' defence.
Zenit tried to take him back to St Petersburg this summer and could make a fresh attempt to prise him away after Christmas.
