Zenit, CSKA Moscow threaten Liverpool Marko Grujic deal

Russian clubs are attempting to wreck Liverpool's deal for Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic.

The Liverpool Echo says Zenit St Pertersburg and CSKA Moscow have tried to hijack Liverpool's deal for Grujic.

Both clubs offered more money to Red Star - £7.4m - but Grujic was determined to move to Anfield.

The midfielder arrived on Merseyside last night and will undergo a medical today before the move is confirmed.

The Serbia Under-21 international has agreed a five-year deal with Jurgen Klopp's side, but will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Red Star.

On Sunday, Grujic announced on Facebook that he would be joining Liverpool today.

He wrote: “On January 4, I will become a Liverpool player."
