Former Chelsea star Bolo Zenden says Roberto di Matteo deserved his two-year contract.
Zenden wrote in the Daily Star Sunday: "The transformation in the Blues' fortunes last season was amazing. Once Andre Villas- Boas was relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge, it seemed as if a great weight of pressure and expectation was lifted.
"And for me, the manner in which Roberto Di Matteo revitalised a squad lacking so much confidence needs to be massively applauded. I am not so sure Roberto has received as much credit as perhaps he should have for finally realising the dreams of the players, fans and, of course, Roman Abramovich, on that famous night in Munich back in May.
"Having said that, the Russian billionaire showed what it meant to him when he rewarded RDM with a two-year deal to remain as the manager along the King's Road."
