Bolo Zenden has vowed to prove his value at Sunderland.
The Dutchman, 33, has yet to start a game and has been limited to just five substitute appearances since arriving as a free agent at the Stadium of Light in October after leaving Marseille.
Now he is intent on making a big impact in the second half of the season - starting at former club Chelsea this weekend.
"It's been frustrating," said Zenden, who also had spells at Liverpool and Middlesbrough as well as Spanish giants Barcelona.
"In the last five years I've suffered no muscle injuries, then I get two or three hamstring problems since joining Sunderland."
