Zenden calls on Sunderland to start beating teams outside top four

Bolo Zenden says Sunderland could qualify for Europe this season, if they can start beating teams outside the top four!

Steve Bruce's side have beaten Arsenal and Liverpool this season as well as drawing at Manchester United.

Zenden told the Telegraph: "It's a rather good reputation to have - scourge of the big four - but on the other hand, while it's good to get the points against the big guns it's not going to get you where you want to be in the end if you don't manage to beat the smaller sides as well.

"You need to make sure you get results against the less fashionable sides as well. If you look at it, we have had an off day against Birmingham and we have lost against Stoke and Burnley as well and that has let us down.

"It's fantastic to beat the big teams like Arsenal and Liverpool at home and it's nice they don't fancy coming here anymore. We're pleased with that, but we have to find some consistency.

"You can't think when you play a team like Arsenal that they are not going to have chances, but we stuck at it, we stuck together and scored the goal at the right time."
