Jonathan Zebina says it was important for Juventus to secure Alessandro del Piero to a new contract this week.

The French defender said: "Del Piero is a person who has given a lot to the game of football.

"He's a major name in the game, a symbol of Juventus - even Italy. Wherever you go, people know the Del Piero name."
