The signing of former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant is a personal gamble by Real Zaragoza sports chief Antonio Prieto.
Pennant becomes Zaragoza's first big signing since their return to the Spanish top-flight and will see him working with highly-rated coach Marcelino, who also gave the deal his green light.
The midfielder signed a three-year contract yesterday after passing his Zaragoza medical. His official presentation is likely to be held next week.
"I wanted to come to Spain and I have rejected offers from major teams in Europe to sign for Real Zaragoza. I really want to start and do well in the La Liga," said Pennant.
