Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti believes their Scudetto triumph will have silenced their critics.

"This was the Scudetto we struggled with the most, but the team believed until the end," said El Tractor. "Inter showed great maturity. We never thought that we could lose the title. There was some worry, obviously, as Roma had a wonderful campaign and deserve praise, but Inter proved they are the best."

It all seemed to be falling apart for the Nerazzurri in recent weeks, as the Scudetto party was postponed by a derby defeat and 2-2 draw with Siena.

"The squad answered its critics. After the derby everyone became Siena fans, then after that game they all wanted Roma to win the Scudetto, but we are the ones celebrating right now, yet again," grinned Zanetti.

"Over the past two weeks absolutely everything has been dragged out to throw us off. One must respect the two teams who fought for this title and Roma had a great campaign."
