Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti insists the players are sorry to see Gian Piero Gasperini sacked.
New coach Claudio Ranieri led Inter to a first victory for the season on the weekend.
Zanetti insisted: "I would like to underline that we are all very sorry about what happened with Gasperini, because I consider him a very good Coach, but unfortunately we were unable to move forward together.
"Criticism must be accepted, as long as you can tell what is real and what isn't. It would really disappoint me if the Inter fans let themselves be led astray by the media narrative.
"As an opponent I always had great respect for Ranieri and now that he is with us we hope to win together. We started well in Bologna and want to confirm that in Moscow tomorrow."
