Javier Zanetti has been named vice-president of Inter Milan.
The Argentine hung up his boots at the end of the season.
"I will look to be useful for Inter as Vice-president," Zanetti told Calcio News 24. "We have had a lot of success but there is still a lot to do in order to remain high up.
"In life I have always followed my dream and after a lot of sacrifices I reaped the rewards.
"During the less beautiful moments I could have transferred to Real Madrid, but together with my family I chose to stay in Milan to repay the affection of the fans and try to win things.
"Then, the trophies arrived."
