Zanetti: Champions League could be Inter Milan destiny
Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti was thrilled with their victory at Chelsea.
Zanetti had many disappointments in the Champions League, but takes this win as “a signal” things have changed.
“It has a special meaning for everyone. Inter played a great game tonight with real character, which is what was needed against a top side like Chelsea,” he said of the 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
The Nerazzurri already had a 2-1 lead from the first leg and reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 2006.
“We hope this can be a signal, as it's not easy to beat Chelsea twice. The way we played tonight was the only way to approach it with character, knowing we could play on level terms with Chelsea.
“Jose Mourinho is very important with his experience and ability to impose his ideas on the team. Tonight was an example of that and we hope it can take us all the way in this competition.”
