Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti would welcome the signing of Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

It was confirmed last week that Manchester City had given permission for Tevez's agents to make contact with the Rossoneri.

"All I can say is that Milan would really get themselves a bargain if they brought Tevez to San Siro. He is a great champion," said Zanetti.

"Our club has always signed big players, so I don't see why we shouldn't continue. President Massimo Moratti makes the effort to improve the squad and our results in recent years reflect that."
