Zahavi putting together takeover consortium for Portsmouth

Pini Zahavi is organising a new consortium to takeover Portsmouth, it has been revealed.

The People says the Israeli Mr Fix-it has spent the past few weeks pulling a handful of rich businessmen into a consortium with a view to bidding for Sacha Gaydamak's FA Cup holders.

Zahavi has been central to other takeover moves in the past and was deeply involved in bringing Sacha Gaydamak to Fratton Park over two years ago.

Now with Gaydamak willing to sell up, Zahavi has stepped in again and may have found the cash to put an offer and a master plan to the Pompey owner in the next few weeks.

Transfer broker Zahavi, who includes England skipper Rio Ferdinand among his client list, would put the team together and then use Portsmouth as a home for his best emerging players.
