Manchester United outcast Wilfried Zaha was at the centre of Tony Pulis' departure from Crystal Palace. The London Evening Standard says it was co-owner Steve Parish's attempts to bring back fans' favourite Zaha that proved to be the final straw for Pulis, who was furious the club were not trying to get the players he actually wanted as opposed to the ones they liked.
One insider said: "There is absolutely no doubt Steve Parish is always trying to do the right thing by the club and is determined it does not spend money it simply can't afford. Nobody can argue with that. But, fairly or unfairly, there was an increasing concern among agents and players that there was a gap between what they thought Palace would offer and what was actually offered in a written contract."
