Zaccheroni wants positive Japan showing at WC 2014

Japan boss Alberto Zaccheroni is backing his side to show their strengths at the 2014 World Cup.

The Blue Samurai have been drawn against Ivory Coast, Colombia and Greece in Group C at Brazil next year and their manager is looking for a very positive showing for the 2011 Asian champions.

"The World Cup will include so many strong teams that have already showed how good they are. So this is our turn to show everybody how strong we are," said Zaccheroni.

"As a coach, I always aim to win. Of course, at the same time, I have enough experience to understand that I have to deal with other things.

"In the past three and a half years, we've grown so much (against strong teams). Sometimes we did very, very good jobs.

"In the past year, the team was a little shy when they had to confront very strong teams. But this is not so true (recently) and they have really shown self-confidence."
