Zaccheroni tells Juventus players to prove themselves

New Juventus coach Alberto Zaccheroni says every one of his players is on notice.

Zaccheroni replaced Ciro Ferrara as Juve coach on Friday.

He declared: “I need to understand what the lads can give in terms of psychological consistency. Keeping that mentality alert at all times is crucial. If that is absent, then it shows a lack of character.

“I will work to bring a new winning mentality, the kind we saw at the start of the season.”

Confidence is shattered after nine defeats in the last 12 games, so the trip to Lazio under a new Coach will be particularly tense.

“The performance of all the players this season is below bar. My objective is to increase everyone’s individual form, that way the collective will also work better.

“I spoke first of all to the captain, Alessandro Del Piero, and will have personal meetings with everyone in the squad.

“At the moment I am short on time, as I need to be thinking right now rather than playing a game. Paradoxically tomorrow, as we await kick-off, will be the first time I’ll be able to sit down and think since I got here.”
