Zabaleta remaining cautious about Man City's title hopes

Despite the fact that Manchester City are in pole position to win the Premier League title, Pablo Zabaleta is remaining cautious.

City defeated Aston Villa 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night to return to the top of the league table, two points clear of Liverpool with one fixture left.

An Edin Dzeko brace and goals from Stevan Jovetic and Yaya Toure allowed City to grab a strong hold of the ascendency prior to Sunday's home clash with West Ham United but Argentine defender Zabaleta is taking nothing for granted even though the Eastlands club only need to avoid defeat to clinch a second title in three years.

"I think it's a massive step forward but we know that there's still one game to play and we had the experience two years ago on the last day of the season against QPR, and sometimes you don't know," he told Sky Sports.

"We know West Ham are safe but they have very good players, they play really well on the counter-attack, they can score on set-pieces, so it's going to be very very tough, like tonight, so we can't relax."

He added: "It was a very difficult game (tonight). It was a very solid performance, nothing is done yet, we know that there's still one game to play but it was very important to win tonight.

"We have a great chance so hopefully on Sunday we can celebrate the title."
